Dental implants are the ideal solution for replacing one or more missing teeth. They are truly able to enhance the quality of life for our patients at Dental Sense Clinic. Missing teeth, which frequently give rise to embarrassing situations, do not need to be a problem anymore. Dental implants can improve our patients' overall health while helping them gain the confidence that comes from a well-functioning smile that looks good and feels natural.
Why choose dental implants?
There are many benefits to replacing missing teeth with dental implants, chiefly that they:
- Provide predictable, reliable results and are designed to last a lifetime
- Look and feel like a natural tooth
- Protect the remaining teeth from excessive forces (by spreading the chewing load) and stop teeth migrating, tilting and over-erupting
- Improve facial appearance by preventing bone loss
- Do not require support from other teeth – no grinding to remaining teeth
- Are fixed in your mouth and do not require removal
- Allow you to eat, speak, smile and laugh confidently
- Are easy to keep clean and do not decay
What are dental implants?
A dental implant is an artificial titanium tooth root, which becomes fully integrated into the jawbone. Acting as a part of you, they make a stable foundation for single-tooth crowns, bridges or support and replace all of the teeth in one jaw. Titanium is a biocompatible material of which the human organism is exceptionally tolerant.
There are literally hundreds of dental implant companies today. Unfortunately, not all of them have the necessary research credentials to prove the quality of their products. Cheap implants are produced from low quality materials. Whereas the quality of the material is a decisive factor for osseointegration – successful integration of an implant with your jaw bone.
More expensive implants are produced by renowned companies like Dentsply or Straumann. With their own research centres, the companies offer the most extensively documented and clinically validated dental implant systems on the market. This requires time and large financial resources. In return, however, the patient receives a safe product of the highest quality, which guarantees:
- Predictable healing
- Long term reliability
- Healthy tissue and bone around the implant
- Successful prosthetic treatment

What is the dental implant placement process?
Dental implant treatment does not require hospitalisation. In most cases, the implant placement is done in one visit using a local anaesthetic and is a painless procedure. In fact, most people find implant placement to be a more pleasant procedure than having a tooth removed. If you still feel nervous or apprehensive we can provide you with Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or intravenous sedation so that you can be away with the fairies while you have your implants placed.
Dental implants can be used when just 1 tooth is missing or when a number of teeth are missing or even when there are no teeth at all. Implant treatment is a safe and predictable process, which comprises the following steps:
- Planning stage
This is the most significant part of the process, during which we carry out a thorough examination of your entire mouth, take some X-rays and in some circumstances also arrange a CBCT (3D) scan. Based on this, the surgeon will determine ideal position of each implant, as well as shape and size of future teeth. After this, you receive a complete treatment plan, with all procedures and costs.
- Implant placement
Placing the dental implant in the ideal spot to form the gum tissue around the implant. One week after, sutures are removed. The implant is left to integrate with your jaw bone for 2-3 months and a temporary tooth prosthesis can always be provided during that time so that you never have a gap.
- Abutment placement
When healing is complete the implant is exposed and the dental implant abutment is placed to connect the dental implant to the future restoration.
- Preparation for the restoration
Impressions are taken for the new implant crown or in the case of multiple teeth the implant bridge or denture. A dental technician makes a permanent restoration with great detail and attention to achieve a truly tooth like appearance. The finest most aesthetic porcelains and ceramics are layered using a number of shades to achieve outstanding results.
- Crowns, Bridges or Dentures
The permanent restoration is bonded directly over the implant abutment, and you have a brand new smile that looks, feels and functions exactly like a natural one!
