What do dental physiotherapy treatments look like?
Dental rehabilitation is becoming more and more popular due to its positive results and non-invasive treatment methods. It can be a basic therapeutic method or only a complement to dental treatments in the field of prosthetics, implantology, orthodontics and maxillofacial surgery. It involves deprogramming and relaxing the temporomandibular joints.
Before planning and undertaking physiotherapy, we conduct a detailed interview, a functional examination of the temporomandibular joints and X-rays or computed tomography.
Each person is a unique being, has a different body structure and reacts differently to treatments. That’s why at the Dental Sense Medicover clinic, our specialists use a number of therapeutic methods. Each of them is carefully tailored to the individual needs of the patient.
Manual therapy / Osteopathy
Manual therapy is a specialized method of treating abnormal function of the temporomandibular joint. It involves gentle manipulation of muscles and joints with the hands. According to scientific research, manual therapy is one of the most effective ways of treating disorders of the masticatory system. It helps relieve tension and restore proper movement in the temporomandibular joint, thus reducing pain.
At Dental Sense Medicover, we focus on extensive diagnostics and a global approach to the patient. Very often, temporomandibular joint dysfunctions have their cause elsewhere in the body.
Our body is a system of communicating vessels, so posture defects, stress, and improper diet can have a significant impact on the position of our jaws and vice versa. Therefore, when planning treatment, our therapists conduct a thorough interview and analyze the spine and body posture. This comprehensive approach allows you to eliminate the cause, not just the symptoms.
The entire procedure is enriched with learning specific exercises and behaviors that you can use at home as self-therapy to get rid of pain faster and more effectively, change postural habits or speed up the healing process.
Kinesiotaping
Kinesiotaping (dynamic taping) is an excellent solution for all people who struggle with pain and swelling after surgery. It can be used as an independent or complementary method to maintain the effect after manual lymphatic drainage. The use of kinesio taping in dentistry involves covering specific parts of the face with specially adapted flexible patches. Patches glued to the skin surface raise it. Thanks to this, they support lymph drainage and improve blood circulation. Facilitating lymph outflow has anti-swelling and analgesic effects. After the first therapy, you feel a clear improvement, which reduces or completely eliminates the pain.
Facial lymphatic drainage
In order to reduce discomfort after surgical procedures, we use manual facial lymphatic drainage. This is a very gentle and fluid massage that improves blood circulation and facilitates lymph outflow. This allows you to eliminate swelling and reduce pain after procedures such as wisdom tooth removal, sinus floor lifting, implant placement or root canal treatment.
Massage
Muscle massage is a very useful treatment in the treatment of functional disorders of the masticatory system. We use various massage techniques, including transverse and classic massage. They allow you to relax and improve muscle flexibility, which helps restore proper movement in the joint.
