Dental fillings

Stomatologia zachowawcza

Dental fillings are one of the most common dental procedures and can be used to both repair damage and improve cosmetic appearance. Dental caries (tooth decay) is the main reason for needing a filling. It is a bacterial disease and, if untreated, it may lead to serious problems, frequently requiring more time-consuming and costly methods of treatment such as root canal treatment. Therefore at Dental Sense, we focus on early detection and professional, minimally invasive tooth cavity treatment.

What treatment methods do we offer at Dental Sense?

Depending on the extent of tooth decay, apart from the standard methods of cavity treatment, we can offer such alternatives as:

  • Artistic Fillings – highly aesthetic composite restorations – ideal for frontal teeth
  • ICON – innovative technology to remove white spots from teeth and arrest the formation of cavities. No drilling or anaesthesia required
  • Inlays and Onlays
  • Air Abrasion - for those patients that primarily do not like the sound or feel of the dentist drill in their mouth

Inlays and Onlays

Stomatologia zachowawcza

Inlays and onlays provide an alternative to fillings, replacing part of a tooth that has been lost because of decay, wear or accidental damage. They can be an especially good option if you have a cavity that is too large for a simple filling. This type of restoration is more aesthetic and long-lasting than traditional composite fillings.

Inlays and onlays are very similar and are placed on the biting surface of damaged molars. Onlays, however, are larger and will extend over the cusps (pointed edges) and down the sides of your tooth. Inlays will rest in between the cusps to repair smaller areas of damage.

These restorations are created in a dental laboratory based on the impressions of your tooth. Inlays and onlays can be made of composite or porcelain – the latter results in a repair that is virtually undetectable. This technique ensures precise reconstruction of the tooth shape and colour.

Air abrasion – cavity treatment without drilling and pain

Stomatologia zachowawcza

If fear of the dental drill has kept you from getting the care you need, at Dental Sense we can offer you an alternative method of cavity treatment. With Air Abrasions the noise, heat, and vibration which are traditionally associated with the dental drill are not present. This is an innovative, minimally invasive and absolutely painless technique, which acts like a tiny sandblaster. Air abrasion uses a stream of fine particles, which, when aimed at the decaying section of the tooth can remove small particles giving the tooth a thorough cleaning.

Air Abrasion is a perfect solution for:

White fillings at Dental Sense

Stomatologia zachowawcza

Our goal is always to create functional and aesthetic results for our patients, almost undetectable from natural teeth. We are able to achieve this by combining advanced techniques with the highest quality ceramic or composite materials. Tooth-coloured composite fillings are visually superior, but more importantly, they increase the tooth’s overall strength and are highly durable.

At our dental clinic in Gdansk, we use aesthetic composite fillings from the renowned GC Corporation. A big number of shades allows to matching the filling to the natural colour of your tooth so that it blends in seamlessly. Additionally, we use layering techniques for our white fillings to mimic natural tooth structure, shade and light reflection.

For our youngest patients, we have prepared a special offer of Twinky Star coloured composite fillings, as a part of Children’s Dentistry. The possibility of making an independent choice of a colour adds an element of fun, which makes children love them.

Computer-controlled anaesthesia

The uniqueness of computer-controlled anaesthesia consists in the immediate and painless local anaesthesia without the side-effects typical of conventional methods. Owing to the newest technology, our patients have ceased to fear the pain and the procedure itself has become less stressful and more comfortable.

The technology of computer-controlled anaesthesia controls flow rate and pressure of the anaesthesia during the injection. Therefore, patients don’t feel the moment when the anaesthetic is administered and their well-being during and after the procedure is improved. The system may be used in treating both adults and children.

At the Dental Sense Clinic, we use the latest version of the SleeperOne computer-controlled anaesthesia, which can be used when treating adults, as well as children.
